IDENTIFYING ADMINISTRATIVE PERFORMANCE: AN EXPLORATORY STUDY OF SCHOOL PRINCIPALS FROM THE VIEWPOINTS OF TEACHERS IN SULTANATE OF OMAN

Abstract

The school administration is an important component of the educational process, which
works to stimulate the elements of the educational process, both material and human, and is
working to activate them as they permeate in all aspects of educational activity. So this study
aimed to identify the administrative performance of School Principalsin Oman from the
viewpoints of teachers. Thus, the descriptive approach was used, and a questionnaire was
conducted for teachers, consisting of (37) items distributed on (5) main fields related to the
jobperformance of the Principals. Then their validity and reliability were verified, with
reliability standing at (0.97). The sample for the study consisted of (278) teachers in Dhofar
schools. Data were analyzed using means, standard deviations, and Alpha coefficient. The
study found that the overall mean for all fields of the questionnaire is 3.83, which indicates
that the administrative performance level of principals in Dhofar schools for administrative
tasks was high. It recommended Holding training courses for school principals to train them
on the technical competencies related to the role of the school principal and to know their
necessary administrative tasks.
