Abstract

Immoral acts are no longer a taboo among teenagers and adolescents alike across the globe. Adolescents
and their misbehaving attitudes have become a point of discussion and concern allover Indonesia. Every
institution of the nation is scrambling for a legacy of positive nurturing of moral values in society. One of
the sectors, is the religious department which has become vital in fighting social evils within
communities. Parental approach in helping students understand and internalize the value of praising and
remembering God has become common within most Islamic schools across the archipelago.
Internalization of the values of praising and remembering Allah is a process of embedding or instilling
religious knowledge (knowing) into a person and then applying it (practicing) the said religious
knowledge attained in a right way. The meaning embedded in the “Faith Prayer Movements or
Remembering Allah” together with its teaching about the performing of prayers on a consistent and
continuous basis is a way to prevent the occurrence and re-currency of immoral activities in society
through religious knowledge and religious faith values internalization. The aim of this study was to
therefore, describe the model of internalization of Islamic praises or remembrance practices by the
students of the “Faith Prayer Movement or Allah’s Remembrance Movement” at Darussalam Islamic
Boarding School in Jati Barang, Brebes in Indonesia. The target group to this study were the students
residing at the said Islamic Boarding School. Using a research method of analytical-descriptive and
grounded research, the students involved in the practice of Faith Prayer Movements were found to be emotionally calm because of their continuous remembrance of Allah, an aspect attained through prayers.
Hence, automatically contributing to their low-level involvement in immoral activities.
