THE EFFECT OF (BUXTON) MODEL ON THE SCIENCE DEPARTMENT STUDENTS ’ACQUISITION OF THE CONCEPTS OF PRACTICAL MECHANICS

Abstract

The research aims to identify the (Buxton) model effect on the science department
students ’acquisition of mechanics concepts. To achieve the research goal, the experimental
method was used to show the effect of Buxton model as an independent variable and the
following null hypothesis must be verified: There is no statistically significant difference on
the level of significance (α = 0.05) between the mean scores of the experimental group students
studying with the Buxton model and the average scores of the control group students studying
the e-learning method in the mechanics concepts acquisition test. Thus, the descriptive
approach is aropted in collecting data ensuring that the problem exists by using the open
questionnaire as a tool to survey a sample of mechanics teaching in the science departments of
the Faculties of Basic Education, and when polling the referees’ opinions about the behavioral
goals and study plans of the two groups research and the acquisition test. In acquiring
mechanics concepts, the research community was intentionally chosen from the second stage
students of the Science Department / Bias Physics at the College of Basic Education, Mosul
University, (academic year 2019-2020). All procedures were presented to experts specialized
in physics teaching method and others specialized in physics, evaluation and measurement to
ensure:
Representing plans and formulating paragraphs of the two tests scientifically and linguistically.
The data were collected and statistically analyzed using the statistical package program for
social sciences (spss), to process data statistically. The researchers recommended using
vocabularies of teaching methods of the Buxton model.
